How a lifelong obsession with books turned into a decade-long mission to help authors succeed in the most competitive publishing landscape in history.
I am a book marketing specialist, campaign strategist, author career coach, and above all else, a passionate, unapologetic advocate for authors and the stories they bring into the world.
For over 10 years, I have had the extraordinary privilege of working alongside more than 200 authors across 25+ genres and 30+ countries, helping them navigate the complex, overwhelming, and ever-changing landscape of book promotion, digital advertising, and reader acquisition in the modern publishing era.
My clients have hit Amazon bestseller lists in dozens of categories, landed coveted BookBub Featured Deals, grown their email lists from zero to tens of thousands of engaged readers, secured podcast appearances on shows with millions of listeners, and most importantly, built sustainable, full-time writing careers doing what they love.
But my journey into book marketing was not exactly a straight line. And honestly, the detours are what make me so good at what I do today.
Like most people in this industry, my story starts with an all-consuming obsession with books. I was the kid who read under the covers with a flashlight until 2 AM. The teenager who spent every single allowance at the local bookstore and begged my parents for more. The college student who chose a literature major despite everyone, professors, parents, career counselors, telling me to pick something more practical.
Books were not just a hobby for me. They were my refuge, my education, my escape, and my identity. I could not imagine a life without them, and I certainly could not imagine a career that did not involve them in some meaningful way. Every summer break I devoured 30 to 40 novels. I filled notebooks with quotes, character analyses, and my own attempts at short stories.
By the time I graduated high school, I had read the entire literary canon of my local library and had started ordering rare first editions online with money I earned tutoring younger kids in reading. It was clear to everyone who knew me: I would either become a writer, an editor, or spend my life working in some corner of the publishing world.
After graduation, I landed my first job at a small independent publishing house, where I quickly discovered a hard truth that would shape the rest of my career and ultimately become the driving force behind everything I do today:
The most talented authors were often the worst-marketed authors.
I watched brilliant manuscripts, books that genuinely moved me to tears, books that I knew with absolute certainty readers would love, quietly disappear into obscurity within weeks of publication. Not because the writing was not good enough. Not because the stories were not compelling. But because nobody on the publishing team had the time, budget, expertise, or inclination to promote them properly.
Meanwhile, mediocre books with strong marketing campaigns and aggressive ad budgets were flying off the shelves and dominating the bestseller lists. It was infuriating. It was heartbreaking. And it lit a fire inside me that has never gone out.
I remember one specific author, a debut novelist whose literary fiction was some of the most beautiful writing I had ever encountered. Her book sold 87 copies in its entire lifetime. She never wrote another book. That moment, that specific failure, changed the trajectory of my career forever.
I decided right then and there that I was going to fix this problem, at least for the authors I could reach. I began teaching myself everything I could about digital marketing, often staying up until 3 AM after my day job, devouring every resource I could find.
I studied Amazon's advertising platform inside and out. I learned Facebook Ads from scratch. I reverse-engineered the email marketing strategies of the most successful indie authors. I taught myself SEO for authors, book pricing psychology, conversion rate optimization, A/B testing, and the intricate algorithms that determine which books get visibility on Amazon and which ones get buried on page 47 of the search results.
I attended every webinar. Read every blog post. Listened to every podcast. Joined every author marketing community I could find. I took courses on copywriting, funnel building, email deliverability, and paid ad management. I spent thousands of dollars of my own money on training programs, software subscriptions, and books about marketing.
I became completely obsessed. My friends thought I was crazy. My family worried I was working too much. But I knew I was building something important.
I started offering my services to a few author friends as a side project. Rewriting their blurbs. Setting up their first Amazon ad campaigns. Helping them build tiny email lists. I did it for free at first, just to test my theories and see if the strategies I had been studying actually worked in the real world.
They did. Spectacularly.
One friend's book went from 15 sales a month to 400. Another friend's debut novel hit the Amazon Top 50 in her category. Word spread. Those friends told their friends. Then strangers started reaching out via email. Then authors I had never met were emailing me asking if I could help them too.
And before I knew it, I had a full-fledged book marketing business on my hands. I quit my publishing job, went full-time, and have not looked back since. That was over a decade ago. I built the business slowly, carefully, one author at a time, refusing to take on more clients than I could personally serve at the highest level.
Today, I run one of the most respected independent book marketing consultancies in the industry. I have managed over 200 book campaigns, generated over $5 million in client book sales, and helped 75+ books reach number one in their Amazon categories.
I have spoken at ThrillerFest, Romance Writers of America, the Self-Publishing Summit, Author Nation, and dozens of other author conferences. I have been featured in Publishers Weekly, The Creative Penn, Self-Publishing Formula, and The Indie Author Magazine. I have worked with authors in 30+ countries across 6 continents.
But the stat I am most proud of is my 98% client retention rate. Almost every author who works with me comes back for their next book, and their next, and their next. Because I do not just deliver results. I build relationships. And that is the foundation of everything I do.
Every strategy I create is delivered 100% in writing via email. Every keyword list, every ad report, every campaign roadmap becomes a permanent asset that authors can reference forever. This is not a limitation of my business model. It is the entire point.
Over the past decade, working with hundreds of authors, I have developed a clear set of principles that guide every campaign I run and every decision I make on behalf of my clients.
There is no such thing as a book for everyone. The most successful marketing campaigns I have ever run were the ones where we got hyper-specific about who the ideal reader was, what other authors they loved, what Facebook groups they hung out in, what BookTok creators they followed, and what emotional triggers made them click Buy Now within seconds. When you try to market to everyone, you reach no one. When you market to your tribe, you create fans for life.
Too many marketers treat book promotion as either a purely creative exercise or a purely analytical one. The truth is that the best campaigns marry both. I use data to identify the right audience and the right channels, and I use creative storytelling to craft the messaging that makes that audience stop scrolling and pay attention. The magic is in the intersection of art and science.
I have heard too many horror stories from authors who hired marketing agencies, handed over thousands of dollars, and received nothing in return. No reports, no communication, no results, no accountability. That is not how I operate. With me, you will always have full visibility into where your budget is going, how your campaigns are performing, what your cost-per-click is, and what your return on ad spend looks like. No smoke. No mirrors. No jargon.
A successful launch week is great. But a successful launch week that leads to a sustainable, profitable author career for the next 10, 20, or 30 years? That is what I am really after. I do not just want to sell your current book. I want to help you build the platform, the audience, the email list, the ad infrastructure, and the systems that will support every book you write for the rest of your life. I am in this for the long game.
The publishing industry has historically failed authors when it comes to marketing. Traditional publishers overpromise and underdeliver. Self-publishing platforms leave authors to figure it out alone. And the marketing industry is full of snake oil salesmen who prey on authors' hopes and dreams. I believe authors deserve better. They deserve honest, experienced, results-driven partners who genuinely care about their success. That is the standard I hold myself to every single day.
Before I develop any marketing strategy, I read your book cover to cover. Not skim, not glance at the summary, actually read it. This is how I understand your voice, your themes, your target reader, and the emotional hooks that will resonate in your marketing copy.
Before we launch anything, I conduct a comprehensive audit of your Amazon listing, your author platform, your social media, your email list, and your competitive landscape. This audit is delivered as a detailed written document so you have a permanent record.
I do not use templates. Every marketing plan I create is built from scratch for your specific book, your specific genre, your specific budget, and your specific career goals. No cookie-cutter strategies. Ever.
Every dollar of your ad spend, every performance metric, every optimization decision is documented in clear written reports. You will always know exactly where your money is going and what results it is producing.
You are not just a client to me. You are a partner in a long-term relationship. I invest in your success because I know that if you succeed, we both succeed. That is why my client retention rate is 98%.
You will hear from me regularly via email with detailed updates, performance reports, and strategic recommendations. No radio silence. No unanswered emails. No wondering what is happening with your campaign.

I am not a marketer who took a weekend course. I have been doing this since 2015. I have seen every algorithm change, every industry shift, and every trend come and go. That experience is impossible to fake.
200+ books marketed. 75+ number one bestsellers. $5M+ in client revenue. These numbers are verifiable and I am happy to share references.
